Our Leadership Strategies

Our CNS Leadership Hub

The aim of the Leadership Hub is to provide opportunities for leaders to share leadership practice, offering support for long-term sustainability of culturally nourishing practices in schools. The CNS Leadership Hub is a point of connection, sharing and learning for school principals and Aboriginal Leaders and Cultural Mentors as well as the CNS team. Through the CNS Leadership Hub, school and community leaders share their experiences of leading CNS in their communities, offering collegial support, and making invaluable connections. The CNS model of school leadership allows the opportunity for staff members to further develop their leadership capabilities, which is vital to the long-term sustainability of the project.

How this works in schools:

Once a term, school leaders, including Cultural Mentors meet online or in-person. Shared resources are developed to support building stronger school-community relationships and consider shared decision-making processes important to each community.

CNS Leadership – in schools and the community

One of the most important processes to come out of the CNS Leadership Hub is the development of micro-treaties between schools and communities. Led by the Cultural Mentors/Blak Caucus and school leaders, the work aims to improve the commitment to cultural sovereignty and shared decision-making. These agreements formalise relationships between schools and local Indigenous communities, reinforcing the importance of Indigenous perspectives in shaping school policies, curriculum, and teaching practices.
