Alexandria Park Community School

Community Opportunity Success

Alexandria Park Community School is a vibrant and unique Kindergarten to Year 12 school located in heart of Sydney, right opposite Alexandria Park. Located on Cadigal land, this unique school community inner city setting reflects our position as the inner-city hub for educational excellence and demonstrates our commitment to serve and respect our local community. The school has a long history of building and sustaining partnerships with members of the local Aboriginal Community. This commitment to the care and well-being of their students ensures that they enjoy their lives at school and reach their full potential. The school has an Opportunity Class in Year 5 and Year 6 and a Selective Stream in Year 7 to Year 10 for high potential and gifted students. The school vision is Community, Opportunity, Success: to provide a culturally nourishing school, to pay respect, and honour the traditional owners of the land and celebrate our diverse community in all aspects of school life.

The Story of CNS at Alexandria Park

Alexandra Park Community School joined the CNS project in 2021 with nine teachers engaging in the CNS professional learning. Across the first 3 years of the CNS program, the school put 27 teachers through the CNS professional development program. Alexandria Park is a school with a long history and commitment to the local Aboriginal community and to Aboriginal education more generally. A key insight from research in this site is the importance of working collaboratively and positively with community and the AECG to ensure community are well informed about the project's aims and activities.
